Italian design group Icona at CES Las Vegas

The Italian design company Icona will be present at the CES in Las Vegas as a special guest of one of its prestigious clients, Chinese food delivery company Meituan.
Since the official release of the Meituan Autonomous Delivery (MAD) Open Platform in July 2018, trial operations have been run in multiple campuses, industrial parks and office buildings, said the company in a statement.
Icona Design Group will also participate in MAD as a strategic partner and will be deeply involved in the development of MAD Open Platform.
Icona’s Vice President Sales & Marketing Xue Nan will attend a strategic partnership signing ceremony between Icona and Meituan on January 8 at CES 2019.
Icona has been involved in futuristic mobility since its foundation in 2010 and has marked significant trends with all its show cars and concept cars: the Fuselage, the Vulcano, the Neo and the latest creation Nucleus.
The Nucleus in particular has had a worldwide impact, with its debut at the Geneva Motorshow in March 2018, followed by the Beijing Motorshow in April and the Los Angeles Autoshow in November.
The appealing design and the innovative concepts behind the Nucleus have already influenced other models recently presented to the public.
More international recognition has come from the international jury of the German Design Council: the Nucleus was winner of the German Design Award 2019 in two categories, Passenger Vehicles and Universal Design, “for outstanding design quality”.
“With its three design studios in Turin (headquarters), Shanghai and Los Angeles, Icona Design is today one of the most innovative and future-oriented design companies. In most cases, we work behind the scenes and we leave the stage to our clients," noted Teresio Gigi Gaudio, the president & CEO of Icona.
In some cases, our clients bring us on stage with them, and this is because Icona is not anymore just a design supplier, but also a significant brand when it comes to future mobility and creative innovation.” he added.
Nan said: “Icona has designed the new food delivery robot which will serve Meituan’s MAD program. We are particularly proud of this activity because it is at the same time an extension of our design for autonomous driving vehicles and our entrance into another sector beyond cars."
"We are honoured to be considered a partner by Meituan and look forward to a long partnership with them,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
