Renault goes ‘Xtrem’ in truck design

May 2017

Renault Trucks last month launched the new K Xtrem in the Middle East at an event in Marrakech, Morocco. The new model, which is now available in the region, is claimed to offer the most robust chassis on the market and has been developed to take on the most challenging environments in the Middle East.

Equipped with a reinforced chassis and an automated, reinforced Optidriver Xtrem gearbox, the truck has been designed for heavy-duty use on the most extreme terrains such as quarries and mines.

The new model offers a total capacity of 32 to 36 tonnes, and features a cast iron engine flywheel housing and C-shaped side member reinforcement. Customers can also specify 24-inch wheels, bolstering the model’s ability to tackle the toughest terrain.

Renault Trucks’ Xtrem Days event, which was dedicated to Renault’s C and K truck ranges, brought together more than 450 clients from over 18 countries, including industry leaders from the Greater Middle East, Sub-Sahara Africa, Algeria, Morocco and Turkey. Participants were given the opportunity to test drive the vehicles and attend workshops to discover more about the ranges.

Commenting on the arrival of the K Xtrem, Gregoire Blaise, Renault Trucks vice-president for Greater Middle East, said: “When developing the C and K ranges, we deployed significant resources to ensure these vehicles deliver maximum reliability and robustness. Each range underwent rigorous quality trials and were also exhaustively field tested under actual operating conditions. The K Xtrem version takes this one step further by offering our customers the most robust chassis in the market, specifically designed to meet extreme conditions such as those in the Middle East market.”

The launch of the K Xtrem follows shortly after the introduction of the C and K ranges last year.  These new models are targeted at customers who work not only in the construction and long-haul industries, but in heavy construction as well. These new ranges were designed and developed by working closely with international customers, who were involved in the project from the design stage right through to testing in actual operating conditions.

Trucks in the K range have an impressive design with a full steel bumper, exceptional obstacle clearance and the best approach angle on the market.

The C range has a high payload, low fuel consumption and comfort of a road vehicle. Its excellent pulling power, manoeuvrability and obstacle clearance capacity make it an excellent choice not only for professionals delivering materials in urban settings, but also for those working in specialised fields such as earthmoving, concrete transport and fertiliser transport.

Renault Trucks has been present in the Middle East for over 40 years and is now available in 13 of the region’s countries. Globally, Renault Trucks is present in more than 100 countries with 1,600 sales and service points.
