Key road project completed

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said work on widening a 7-km-long section of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Project has been completed.

With the completion of the project, the number of lanes will double from three to six in each direction alongside this sector extending from Al Maktoum International Airport roundabout to Jebel Ali-Lehbab roundabout.

Announcing the progress on the RTA’s other projects, Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and board chairman, said about 60 per cent of the job had been completed on the Al Houdh Junction project between the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Al Yalayis Road.

The project, which was undertaken by the RTA at a cost of Dh227 million ($62 million), is set for completion in the fourth quarter this year. Al Houdh Junction project is part of Phase Two of the improvement and widening of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road project costing about Dh940 million ($256 million).


Multi-storey parking facility opens

Abu Dhabi government has opened the new state-of-the-art multi-storey parking facility in Al Dana area, which has a capacity to handle 726 vehicles.

This project comes as part of the Department of Transport’s (DoT) strategy to provide a transport system according to the highest international standards, with an effective parking management in Abu Dhabi. The project, which aims to provide additional parking bays for the residents of Al Dana and its visitors, consists of surface parking spaces and a three multi-storey underground parking facility that includes a total of 726 regular parking bays, bays for the handicapped, female-only parking bays and parking bays dedicated for hybrid and electric cars.

The facility is fitted out with high-tech security features, and will also include a park for families and a play area.


Azizi launches residential project

UAE-based Azizi Developments has launched Royal Bay Residence, an exclusive collection of 90 fully-serviced luxurious residential apartments situated on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, next to the Anantara Hotel in Dubai.

Construction of the Dh350-million ($95.2 million) project has already commenced and is expected to be completed by March 2017, said the company.

The new project is part of company’s Dh4.5-billion ($1.22 billion) development plan to build thousands of apartments in Nakheel’s Al Furjan project and Palm Jumeirah, it added.

The building has been designed with 45-degree orientation to allow all the living rooms, kitchen and bedrooms to get sea views.
