The Big 5

Industry pioneer

October 2014

KTI-Plersch Kaltetechnik, a German pioneer and leader in the field of concrete cooling which has been exhibiting at The Big 5 for more than 15 years, describes the expo “an important week of the year”.

“Most of our customers are from the Middle East region and this exhibition provides us with an opportunity to meet and thank our customers and keep them informed about new developments,” says a company spokesman.

At last year’s Big 5 show, KTI introduced its ‘Greenline Chillers’ for the concrete industry.

“These are very economical plants, mainly because the refrigerant is reduced to a minimum. We have received lot of positive feedback from many visitors about these environment-friendly plants,” he explains.

The company is back at this year’s Big 5 with its most comprehensive range of products for the concrete cooling industry.

Along with its standard flake ice plant, ice and cold water chiller, KTI will be showcasing its upgraded cold air plant for aggregate cooling and the newly designed plate ice plant for other industries.

“We are proud to say that these plants will be operational in several infrastructure and energy projects in the near future,” he remarks.

Commenting on The Big 5, the spokesman says: “With more than $1.5 trillion worth of construction projects planned and allocated in the region, the GCC construction market is set for rapid growth. Exhibitions like The Big 5 contribute to the market and spur development in the region. Hence, we are sure that we will receive a greater response from our customers and visitors at this year’s Big 5 than in previous years.”

KTI is a dynamic and innovative German refrigeration contractor and has been a name associated with concrete cooling for almost three decades now. More than 2,800 KTI concrete cooling plants are in operation worldwide.

“Most of these plants are employed on special projects, which usually have a completion schedule of two or three years. After that, the equipment has to be relocated immediately and conveniently. This can only be achieved with KTI’s unique modular systems,” says the spokesman.

He says all of KTI’s plants are containerised and thus mobile so that the erection and installation time on the site is reduced to a minimum. This also helps in future projects, in moving the plants from one site to another within a few days with a minimum down time.

“Since each plant is custom built, importance is given to liaising with customers to find out the optimum solution in terms of design, capacities and suitable layout of the system,” he adds.

“Our spare parts management services ensure maximum availability, reliable performance as well as precise and continuous operation of KTI products. We are always one step ahead of the competition in terms of after-sales service because we believe that without a proper and efficient after-sales service there would be no sales. To safeguard the optimum performance of our products, we maintain spare parts centres at regular service points in all the major locations,” he continues.

KTI has supplied complete concrete cooling systems for many mega projects in the Middle East. Among its most striking projects are the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (UAE), which is currently the world’s tallest and the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), which will replace it as the tallest, as well as the Palm Islands in Dubai. Other key projects are the Kuwait Causeway project; Dubai Metro and Dubai Airport in the UAE; Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar; Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia; and several ports in the region.

KTI-Plersch Kaltetechnik can be visited at Stand MEC A101 at The Big 5 show.
